Slab
construction techniques are the basis for much handbuilt ceramic work.
This class will explore planning and executing sculptural forms made from
slabs with attention to the integrity of construction. Along with fired
surfaces, we will also experiment with mixed media surfaces such as paint,
uses of paper additions, grogged surfaces and crackled textures made with
wire and wire mesh. Some non-functional surfaces may require multiple
firings. |
